DC Fashion Week Engages National Press, Educates Students, Hosts Fifth Gala at the Embassy of France
DC Fashion Week educates college students while engaging the media with its September 25 special presentation to the members of the National Press Club. Attending the program are fashion, merchandising and design students from Fairfax County schools, Marymount University, the Art Institute of Washington and The Temple, (a Paul Mitchell Partner School). Attending the program are fashion, merchandising and design students from Fairfax County schools, Marymount University, the Art Institute of Washington and The Temple, (a Paul Mitchell Partner School). DCFW debuts its fifth iteration with a growing list of supporters including Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spas, the Art Institute of Washington, Imagen De Washington Magazine, Pearmund Cellars, Northern VA Magazine, Council Communications, H Street Festival, Club Play, Lima Restaurant & Lounge, and K Street lounge.
DCFW continues to display fresh talent with the participation of designers from around the world. The designers presenting include Annette Williams, Aposol, Bella Indigo Studios, Bonidacci, Corjor International, D-Maxsi, Glamorous Gowns by Glynn, J-Bri, Knaf Couture, Matador Oliver Davis Designs, Michi, Renee France Designs, Yndigo Designs, and ZULA Studios. Previous fashion weeks have featured collections from Israel, Moldova, Brazil, New Zealand, and Australia. Joining this year’s fashion week are collections from Ghana and Russia among an outstanding assortment of American fashion designers and retailers. DCFW is also in a joint partnership with the city's historic “H Street Festival” which broadened its yearly program to encompass a fashion display along with its traditional culture, art, music and food exhibitions. "It has long been a dream of mine to produce a free, outdoor fashion show for the public, and are delighted to be a part of the renaissance of art and fashion in the community," said Ean Williams.
A partnership of independent fashion designers, producers and models, DC Fashion Week creates increased economic development in the area of fashion design, clothing merchandising and modeling as well as enhances the visibility of the nation's capital as a center of international fashion.
