DPAC, the new Durham Performing Arts Center, takes top honors in Pollstar magazine. Based on 2009 ticket sales, DPAC is ranked #46 in the top 100 Worldwide Theatres Venues.

“One of the top 50 theaters in the world? That’s a pretty neat position for us to be in after just our first year of operation. More important, though, are the thousands of compliments we have received from DPAC guests who react so positively to the incredible shows we have staged in our world class setting. With an attention to detail and guest service that cannot be beat, DPAC’s future will continue to grow as more and more concert and Broadway fans from throughout the region make DPAC their favorite place for live entertainment,” said Bob Klaus, GM of DPAC.

DPAC is garnering regional, national and now worldwide accolades by putting its fans first. From the moment patrons enter the venue grounds they are treated to smiling faces & warm welcomes. Once inside the venue they can expect world class entertainment in an intimate setting that makes every event at DPAC one for the memory book. It only takes one visit to see why DPAC is ranked as high as it is after one year and has quickly becomes this region’s crown jewel.

2010 at DPAC has seen the sell out trends of 2009 continue with 6 shows selling every ticket including country superstar Vince Gill, R&B legends Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, the US Tour Debut of the new Celtic Woman show, New Orleans troubadour Harry Connick, Jr, 70’s icons the Moody Blues and indy alt rockers Wilco.

DPAC’s upcoming events for February include the Broadway smash hit Hairspray (Feb 24). The regional debut of the Broadway smash hit Wicked (Apr 2 – May 16) follows in April as does folk rock singer- songwriter David Gray (April 9). Everyone’s favorite band Chicago (May 18) will grace the stage in May followed by Broadway’s sweetest love story Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (June 8 – 13). Legendary Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band (July 11) and singer / pianist Norah Jones (Aug 8) round things off this summer.
