WhoHasTheRemote.com loves those rare occasions when a once-prominent teen performer stages a comeback as an adult. This past week, actress Danielle Fishel has done just that through the pages of Maxim magazine.
The actress is remembered for her role as Topanga, the high school sweetheart of protagonist Cory in the late-90s TGIF hit Boy Meets World. Adored by male viewers for her cherubic good looks, the one-time star has delighted fans again with ample displays of her voluptuous proportions in her new photo-spread.
Fishel’s Maxim spread was prompted by recent talk of the actress reprising her Topanga character for Girl Meets World, which is set to commence production with the Disney Channel later this year. In this BMW spinoff, the now-married Topanga and Cory will play parents to Riley, a young girl facing growing epiphanies reminiscent to those of her father in the earlier series.
However, the part that has really set the blogosphere alight is the content of Fishel’s Maxim spread. In addition to the sexy layouts, the actress candidly reminisces about naughty off-screen antics both during and subsequent to her original portrayal of Topanga. As Yahoo! TV reports, one of her revelations seems to implicate fellow TGIF alumni Bob Saget with an innuendo-laden use of the word “coke.”
While tame by Hollywood standards, Fishel’s latest strides are mighty risqué for an actress tied to the Disney Channel – a network noted for its strict standards regarding performer conduct. Rumors are afloat that some of the network’s top brass are having cold feet in light of the actress’s comments. Then again, the network could broaden its audience with a more adult version of a former teen icon.
But even if the new adventures of Topanga and Cory aren’t meant to be, memories that audiences hold of the two as young lovers will linger in reruns on certain dish network channels.
WhoHasTheRemote.com wishes Danielle Fishel and the BMW crew the best of luck in their updated run of an old TV franchise. While some of her antics might be a little risqué for the little ones, the now-adult audience that remembers her as Topanga should be more than ready for some grown up entertainment.
