Experts See Delta Emerging From Bankruptcy without US Airways
Industry watchers predict that Delta Air Lines will not merge with US Airways based on initial results from a poll conducted by The Air Travel Channel.
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) January 23, 2007 -- A majority of industry watchers predict Delta Air Lines will emerge from bankruptcy alone or merge with Northwest Airlines. Few believe that US Airways' hostile bid will prevail, according to preliminary results of a poll conducted by The Air Travel Channel.
Industry watchers from influential blogs such as IAG Blog and Upgrade: Travel Better as well as The Travel Insider newsletter shared their opinion in the poll, which was launched January 13 and will close on January 31. (US Airways' bid to Delta's creditors expires on February 1).
About 36% of poll respondents said they believe Delta will emerge from bankruptcy alone, while 35% predicted that Northwest would merge with Delta. Only 22% of voters felt that the US Airways' hostile bid will win.
The Delta Merger Poll provides a litmus-test of current industry thoughts on the drama surrounding Delta Air Lines. While those who have responded to date have been industry watchers, the poll is in fact open to anyone who wishes to vote.
