A recent blog post from DigitalMarketer.com, the leaders in online marketing information, is enlightening readers on the amount of books read by e-reader users versus the amount read by print book owners.
Convenience, says Loposer, is the leading reason for e-reader popularity. Reading a book on a Kindle or e-reader app is “way more convenient than the analog libraries that these little devices are replacing,” said Loposer in the post.
“First, the internet, and now the mobile shift [are] making it irresistibly convenient to consume the written word in its digital form,” Loposer wrote in the blog post. “Since the first Kindle appeared, some very smart developers have been systematically removing all objections… until the only practical argument against e-books is just [that] you like filling bookshelves with brightly colored books.”
Loposer shares the infographic developed by Mashable, which claims that digital book fans are reading 60% more books per year than the print and paper readers.
“As a person who’s downloaded 8 books on my Kindle app and read only 3 of them, I’m a bit skeptical,” Loposer said. “I’m not trying to say that the people surveyed are lying or anything, but maybe they’re just losing count? Maybe they’ve just got a very healthy self-esteem?”
Whatever the case, Loposer is sure to point out that the data doesn’t lie, and that e-book download numbers are through the roof. He went on to say that “tons of e-books are getting sold…. just maybe not read. That’s nothing new either, if you think about it.”
