Digital Marketer has led the online marketing industry since its inception, and is contributing to the latest conversations surrounding trends and news stories with their innovative blog. The latest post is from Managing Editor Josh Loposer and discusses the onset of a mobile commerce uptrend.
Loposer pointed out that since so many web browsers are operating on a mobile phone these days, businesses who optimize their website’s mobile accessibility are at an advantage.
“Mobile users now account for 1 in every 8 web visits, according to analytics giant comScore. And if you believe that ratio is going anywhere other than straight through the roof, you’re crazy,” wrote Loposer.
“According to Practical eCommerce, almost 70% of that traffic comes from smartphones… The thing is, even though we all know how big mobile is getting, a huge segment of us have done nothing to make our sites more accessible to smartphone and tablet users,” Loposer said. “It’s so dumb… and we know it too.”
StrangeLoop Networks has also conducted research on the topic, and Loposer said that the company reports another interesting find about missed opportunities on the part of online businesses.
“According to Stangleloop Networks, 33% of online businesses don’t have a mobile-ready version, certainly not a tablet-ready version of their site,” said Loposer in the blog post. “That’s just leaving money on the table.”
