The Dixie Chicks will kick off their 2013 “Long Time Gone” Tour, October 26, in Vancouver, British Columbia at Rogers Arena. The group will play nine Canadian shows in October and November wrapping up November 10 at the Budweiser Gardens, London, Ontario. Tickets are expected to sell fast since this will be the first Canadian tour in seven years. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets early to get the seats they want at an affordable price. Ticket Tweet has tickets available for all Dixie Chicks Tour stops, including tickets to sold out venues.
Fans can expect to hear hit songs from past albums since the Dixie Chicks haven’t released a new album since ‘Taking the Long Way’ in 2006. In recent years, fiddler Martie Maguire and banjo picker Emily Robinson have collaborated and released two Courtyard Hounds’ albums. The second of the two albums, ‘Amelita,’ was recently released in July. The two band mates co-wrote 10 of the 11 songs.
The Dixie Chicks music career launched in 1989 in Dallas, Texas, and was originally composed of four women performing bluegrass and country music. After the departure of one band mate, the replacement of their lead singer, and a slight change in style, the group soon achieved commercial success in 1998 with hit songs "There's Your Trouble" and "Wide Open Spaces." Since then, The Dixie Chicks have won 13 Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year for "Taking the Long Way". The Dixie Chicks sold more than 30 million albums with 1.6 million of those in Canada. “We had such a great time playing for our Canadian fans this summer that we’ve been inspired to come back for more,” said Maines, Maguire and Robison in a tour news release.
