George Fox offers the program at its Newberg, Portland and Redmond, Ore., locations.

The doctor of education (EdD) curriculum emphasizes moral leadership and provides reasoned solutions to problems encountered in the process of meeting institutional and community goals. Classes focus on ethical, legal, social, political and historical perspectives on educational questions. The doctoral program also equips students to use qualitative and quantitative research tools to increase their understanding of the problems encountered in educational organizations.

The 63-credit-hour program is designed to be flexible for educators, offering modular, online and intensive summer courses that allow students to complete course work in four academic years.

Students may also earn either of the two K-12 Oregon administrative licenses while completing the doctorate of education. A separate admission application is required for either the initial or continuing administrator license.

The program incorporates five elements: moral leadership, specialized interest, depth of knowledge, professional development and problem solving. The 40-semester-hour moral leadership core curriculum emphasizes leaders as those who seek just, effective, and reasoned solutions to problems. This curriculum provides a comprehensive framework from ethical, legal, social, political and historical perspectives applied to teaching, leading and learning within a Christian worldview.

In regard to specialized interest, students may complete a specialization by taking additional elective courses, transferring semester hours into their programs, and/or completing practica from teaching endorsements, teaching licenses, and administrative licenses.
