The Elite Football League of India today announced that Ed Goren, former Fox Sports president and vice chairman, has joined the Elite Football League of India (EFLI) as director of strategic alliances and as a member of the EFLI board.
EFLI games began airing on Ten Sports, India's top sports network, on September 22, 2012. The EFLI has a five year deal to showcase 370 games on Ten Sports which registered a 51% viewership rating among all sports viewers in the last quarter ended June 30, 2012. The sports business industry in India is considered one of the fastest growing sports industries in the world.
"I am looking forward to working with Ten Sports as I did with CBS and FOX," said Mr. Goren. "My intention is to help the EFLI become one of the most recognizable brands in India's young, vibrant and growing sports industry. It is an extraordinary opportunity to work with the number one sports broadcaster in a market that is five times larger than that of the United States with, relatively speaking, much less competition from other Indian branded sports leagues. I feel our timing of entry is right. As we move forward some of these young players will be the future stars of the EFLI."
"Ultimately, I appreciate the philanthropic vision that permeates the EFLI. As exciting as the launch of the EFLI is to me, I'm equally as excited about the opportunity the league is providing for young men in India to get started playing Flag, High School and College Football," concluded Mr. Goren.
Mr. Goren's accomplishments include:
According to David Hill, ceo and chairman of the FOX Sports Media Group, "Ed is one of the most respected, experienced sports television executives in the country and has played a key role in making Fox Sports the industry leader it is today."
The EFLI has added Ed Goren to its growing list of talent which includes Sandy Grossman, (8 Time Emmy Award Winning TV Sports Director), Mark Wahlberg, ( Time Magazine's Top 100 Most Influential People in the World), Kurt and Brenda Warner, (Philanthropists, Top Sports Talent and TV Personality), Mike Ditka, Michael Irvin and Ron Jaworski, (Top NFL Players and TV Personalities), Brandon Chillar, (Highest Paid Indian Athlete and Ex-Green Bay Packer) and Gibran Hamden, (First Professional Pakistani NFL Player).
"The EFLI was founded on the concepts of love and unity," said EFLI founder and co-ceo Sunday Zeller. "By bringing together the East and the West in alliance to eliminate poverty throughout the globe, the EFLI will make the impossible a reality through peaceful, healthy competitive play. Regardless of faith or political view, we can all embrace the game and come together in celebration of the mission."
