America's Beef Producers Commemorate Earth Day

Authentic beef recipe celebrates Earth's natural resources

(PRWEB) April 20, 2008 -- Every day, American cattlemen and women protect the Earth's natural resources while producing nutritious food for people worldwide. Celebrate this Earth Day with a special beef recipe that highlights what the land provides when you care for it like U.S. beef producers.

Chef Michaele Musel demonstrates how to prepare Wrangler Beef Stew, a hearty and flavorful beef recipe that combines naturally sustainable beef and fresh spring vegetables.

Our basic philosophy has been to take care of the land, and the land will take care of you
The recipe, created by the nationally-recognized Stone family of Yolo Land & Cattle Company, will inspire your family to prepare an easy-to-make meal that is healthy, hearty and environmentally-friendly.

The Stone family, of Woodland, Calif., was honored with the 2007 National Environmental Stewardship Award for their successful integration of natural resource conservation efforts and good business practices.

"Our basic philosophy has been to take care of the land, and the land will take care of you," said Scott Stone.

Earth Day is a year-round celebration for America's beef producers, who carefully follow science-based best management practice to protect our country's natural resources for future generations.

The Environmental Stewardship Award, established in 1991, recognizes the outstanding stewardship practices and conservation achievements of U.S. cattle producers. Beef cattle producers practice natural resource management activities including soil tests, brush and weed control programs, grazing management plans, minimum or conservation tillage systems and range quality and grass utilization monitoring

Beef -- From Pasture to Plate is a resource funded by The Beef Checkoff for readers to learn about the family-owned and operated businesses and their carefully developed practices for producing safe, wholesome and nutritious beef. The site profiles dedicated men and women from across the United States, who spend every day caring for their animals and working hard to provide great-tasting beef to America's dinner tables.
