National Beef Ambassadors Commemorate Earth Day

Personal videos demonstrate conservation efforts of cattle producers

(PRWEB) April 21, 2008 -- In honor of Earth Day, the 2008 National Beef Ambassadors, a group of young beef producers, are sharing a series of personal videos telling the story of today's family-owned and operated cattle ranches, and their efforts to protect the environment every day.

Each video presents a unique perspective on environmental stewardship and why it is essential to the integrity and the future viability of the cattle industry.

Earth Day is celebrated year-round by America's beef producers. Cattle ranchers across the country make a difference by protecting important land, water and air resources while helping to feed a growing population.

See Jennifer Rassler, Ambassador from Kempton, Penn., demonstrate environmental best practices that prevent soil erosion, maintain quality water sources and preserve natural habitats for local wildlife, all while maintaining a successful dairy farm operation.

Beef Ambassador Leticia Varelas explains how agriculture practices play an integral part in managing and conserving the forests of her native state of New Mexico. Varelas also provides commentary on the Raising the Steaks blog.

The National Beef Ambassador Program, funded in part with Beef Checkoff dollars, encourages today's youth to get and stay involved in their industry by sending them to the front line to promote beef and educate consumers about the beef industry. Over the years, the Ambassadors have taken their message to the Web, building and responding to beef messages and sharing accurate information where they find misinformation.

Beef -- From Pasture to Plate is a resource funded by The Beef Checkoff for readers to learn about the family-owned and operated businesses and their carefully developed practices for producing safe, wholesome and nutritious beef. The site profiles dedicated men and women from across the United States, who spend every day caring for their animals and working hard to provide great-tasting beef to America's dinner tables.
