Echoes And Reflections Launches Revamped Site in Time for Holocaust Education Week
Echoes and Reflections, the groundbreaking multimedia curriculum on the Holocaust, today unveiled a newly revamped Web site for teachers who employ the curriculum to teach the lessons of the Holocaust to students across the United States.

Launched to coincide with Holocaust Education Week and the 71st anniversary of Kristallnacht on November 9-10, the redesigned site at www.echoesandreflections.org has more user-friendly features and highlights tools such as an interactive training map, where educators may learn about upcoming trainings in their communities. The site also provides platforms for direct engagement, from social-networking tools to news and updates on the curriculum, its trainings and success stories.
The Echoes and Reflections curriculum was produced in partnership with the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), the USC Shoah Foundation Institute for Visual History and Education, and Yad Vashem.
"We have painstakingly redesigned the Echoes and Reflections site with educators in mind,” said Dr. Ed S. Alster, ADL Director of Education. “As each generation grows up further removed from the experience of the Holocaust, the challenge of bringing that terrible period to life and to make it relevant to their lives is increasing. Technology and the use of visual testimony help make that period in history more relevant and accessible to young people, and through the Internet we can communicate with and provide resources directly to teachers in the field.”
Echoes and Reflections is a comprehensive ten-part curriculum on the Holocaust that uses visual history testimony from survivors and other witnesses and additional primary source documents, including maps, photographs, timelines, literature excerpts and other materials. Since its launch in July 2005, the curriculum has reached an estimated 1.5 million middle and high school students across the country, and more than 10,000 are in use in classrooms across the country.
The curriculum was honored in 2007 for its use of visual history testimony and its educational Web site by the National Association for Multicultural Education.
