You can learn a lot from a fellow voice actor. This is precisely the thought behind Edge Studio TalkTime! Sunday night conference calls, when aspiring and professional voice actors have the opportunity to ask each other questions, voice concerns, share ideas, and network.
TalkTime!, the brain child of Edge Studio owner and director David Goldberg, provides a free time for voice actors to speak openly with like-minded people, interested in the same topic. This interactive forum utilizes one of the best resources in the industry, the knowledge of other voice actors.
TalkTime! is every Sunday night from 9:45pm - 10:45pm ET. Each Sunday of the month features a different topic. The first Sunday of the month is TechTalk; this forum gives voice actors a chance to discuss the technical side of the voice over industry such as home studio setups, voice over microphone selection, soundproofing, and voice over software. The second Sunday of the month is ProTalk and is reserved for working voice actors to talk about anything that professionals deal with day-in and day-out, such as client issues, voice over marketing ideas, and new trends. The third Sunday of the month features TrainingTalk, which is devoted to aspiring and budding voice actors to exchange training tips, share experiences and even the opportunity to find practice partners. The fourth Sunday night of each month is TopicTalk, during which voice actors are given a controversial subject to weigh their thoughts on, such as payment scales, union pros and cons, ethical practices, as well as any and all topics that are pertinent to those entering or working in the industry.
"The goal of these calls is to make it easy and accessible for everyone to communicate openly with one another" says David Goldberg. "It’s great to see voice actors coming together, mingling, networking, guiding each other, and generally helping their peers." TalkTime is free and the benefits are invaluable.
