Provo, UT (Vocus/PRWEB) November 23, 2010

Educational software company Imagine Learning and private equity firm Sorenson Capital announced today that Sorenson Capital has become an investment partner in Imagine Learning.

Since its founding in 2004, Imagine Learning has experienced six years of explosive growth, providing language and literacy solutions for English learners, struggling readers, students with disabilities and pre-K students through its award-winning software program Imagine Learning English. This year Imagine Learning was ranked the eighth-fastest-growing private company in the education sector by Inc. magazine.

“Imagine Learning has built a strong organization with the capacity to meet increasing demands for effective language and literacy instruction,” said Fraser Bullock, managing director of Sorenson Capital and former chief operating officer of the 2002 Salt Lake Winter Olympics. “We look forward to helping them continue to grow their outstanding company.”

Imagine Learning English is currently used by eight of the 10 largest school districts in the U.S. to facilitate improvement in students who have low reading and verbal skills. Each year the U.S. spends $2 billion on students who must repeat grades because of reading problems. Imagine Learning English helps young and struggling students advance their language and literacy skills. For example, at-risk students who use Imagine Learning English were shown by a recent study to score three times higher than their counterparts on English language arts state tests in California.

The Sorenson Capital management team includes three former CEOs and several members who have top-level experience at leading strategy consulting firms and other prominent U.S. financial institutions. Imagine Learning’s partnership with Sorenson Capital will allow the company to further develop Imagine Learning English and broaden its implementation in schools around the country.

“Uniting our experienced team with the expertise and financial resources of Sorenson Capital will offer a unique opportunity to expand the power and reach of Imagine Learning,” said Susan Preator, Imagine Learning CEO. “We will be even better equipped to provide the students who need the most help with solutions that best meet their individual needs.”
