Florida Hospital College Positions Nursing Classes Online for Working RNs Seeking a Bachelor's Degree

Due to the success of the RN-BSN online degree program, Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences (FHCHS) is moving future enrollments for the RN-BSN degree to their online program. Students currently enrolled in on-campus courses will be transitioned into the distance education program and as of the Fall 2007 term, no on-campus BSN courses will be offered.

Orlando, FL (PRWEB) October 13, 2006 -- Due to the success of the RN-BSN online degree program, Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences (FHCHS) is moving future enrollments for the RN-BSN degree to their online program. Students currently enrolled in on-campus courses will be transitioned into the distance education program and as of the Fall 2007 term, no on-campus BSN courses will be offered.

The online RN-BSN program began in 2004 with 26 students, and has grown to 369 students.

The number of students who are choosing the online program really shows how valuable the flexibility of learning at home is to nurses trying to balance personal and professional obligations
"The number of students who are choosing the online program really shows how valuable the flexibility of learning at home is to nurses trying to balance personal and professional obligations," stated Dr. Nancy Haugen, Chair of the Department of Nursing. "With this in mind, we feel it is important to focus our attention on developing the online program."

The program helps working professional Registered Nurses (RNs) attain the education necessary to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. The online program has given the College the ability to reach students that would have never earned a BS degree without the program. Students enrolled in the program live in communities as close as Orlando and as far away as Okinawa, Japan.

Compass Knowledge Group (Compass), a premier provider of distance learning services to colleges and universities provides the FHCHS RN-BSN online program with support services. Since the partnership began with the launch of the program in 2004, Compass has supplied student recruitment, retention, technical, and marketing support for the program. The successful relationship between Compass and Florida Hospital College has led to a student retention rate of more than 90 percent and steady increases in student enrollment.
