This is the best acquisition Belspeed ever made.
Seven years after the first introduction, Gary Dahan, international businessman, partnered with Jean Brandt and Charles Lambert, chief executives and owners of the twenty-five year old Belgium based company.

Announcements were made to many of their clients, fashion apparel manufacturers and distributors, at the Bread & Butter International tradeshow in Barcelona January 16-18, 2008. Belspeed's clients reacted favorably to the news. One high profile Spanish fashion distributor commented to Lambert about Dahan, "This is the best acquisition Belspeed ever made."

The following week, at the second annual company party held at Huis Van Wonterghem in Kuurne, Belgium, honoring the employees for their contribution to the success of the company, the new partnership was announced. Dahan is a familiar face in the Belspeed offices, as he has been a loyal client, advisor and long time friend of the company. The crowd cheered when Dahan was introduced and welcomed to the team.

Dahan has been partners in many successful businesses over the years. In his youth, he established himself as a famous hairdresser to the Parisian elite and celebrities, innovated wig-making techniques and often created hairstyles for designer's fashion runway shows. He had an import-export business and even created a whitening toothpaste in France.

He moved to Montreal in 1970 and opened fashion retail stores: Carnaby Street, Twins, Twin Prestige and Les Celibates. He and his two partners began manufacturing sportswear for their own stores under the Jean Nicholas label. The brand attracted interest and they began distributing their own products to other retailers.

In 1980, after visiting family in Long Beach, California, Dahan decided to go west. He moved to southern California, opened a retail outlet and quickly went back into manufacturing. With operations in Los Angeles and Hong Kong, he produced blouses under the Tess label and produced private label fashion apparel for many department stores. The company won awards and accolades from major American retailers. Volume of the brand grew to over $47,000,000. In 1999, Dahan and his partner sold the company to Seattle based investors. He stayed on as a consultant until 2001.

In 2001, Dahan and his wife, a fashion designer from southern California, established Caldan and then set up the European distribution for a fast growing premium denim brand. It was at this time that Dahan discovered Belspeed. In a Paris showroom, Dahan met Charles Lambert, Chief Executive of the logistics firm and Phillippe Desmedt, the General Manager and Commercial Director from their Kruishoutem office. After long negotiations and Dahan's investigative research, a business relationship formed as Dahan entrusted the company to handle the logistics for the denim brand.

Many leading American fashion brands, wanting to expand into Europe, have been following the business model that Dahan set up seven years ago. That model included Belspeed. The Dahan's continued to use Belspeed for other brands they represented over the years and often recommended the company to their many friends in the industry.

After many years of using Belspeed's services and advising them about growth and strategic planning, Dahan's passion for the company, the owners and the staff grew. Partners Charles Lambert and Jean Brandt proposed Dahan to join them in building the business further. After considerable involvement with the key people, operations and infrastructure, Dahan decided to partner with Belspeed.

The logistics company has grown at a dynamic pace since that fateful introduction in 2001. In addition to many American and Canadian fashion apparel brands, Belspeed handles the logistics, warehousing and transportation for many European manufacturers and retailers.

In 2007, Belspeed's volume doubled from 2006, 35 new fashion apparel manufacturers were established as clients, 50,000 square meters and 75 employees were added. In 2008, Dahan, Lambert, Brandt, Desmedt and their rapidly increasing team have big plans in work, including additional warehouse expansion, increased warehouse management systems and advanced software implementation.
