The Women’s Board of Wolfson Children’s Hospital Proudly Announces the 2016-2017 Florida Forum Line-up
Jacksonville, Florida (PRWEB) May 07, 2016 -- The Florida Forum speaker series, produced by The Women’s Board of Wolfson Children’s Hospital in Jacksonville, raises funds with the goal of providing the best, most technologically advanced health care for children. These presentations will take place at the Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts.
The 2016-2017 series will open on October 25th with Dr. Ben Carson. World-renowned pediatric neurosurgeon, inspiring storyteller, New York Times best-selling author and syndicated columnist, Dr. Carson has been named one of the nation’s 20 foremost physicians and scientists by CNN and Time Magazine. Known for his ground-breaking medical career, he directed pediatric neurosurgery at the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center for 29 years and holds more than 60 honorary decorate degrees. He was a candidate for the 2016 Republican Presidential nomination
The series continues on January 30th with Megyn Kelly, anchor of Fox News Channel’s The Kelly Files. Ms. Kelly focuses on breaking stories, in-depth investigative reports and news-maker interviews, capitalizing on her skills as a former litigator. She covered the Boston Marathon bombings and the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School. In 2014, Time Magazine named her one of the most influential people in the world. She has been key in Fox News' coverage of the 2016 presidential election.
The season concludes March 13, 2017, with former NFL quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner, Tim Tebow. Growing up in Jacksonville, he has been ranked the 5th most popular quarterback in the NFL. Currently, he is co-host of the SEC network’s “SEC Nation.” In addition, The Tim Tebow Foundation has helped the lives of at-risk children world-wide. One of two major benefits produced annually by the all-volunteer Women’s Board, the 2016-2017 Florida Forum will contribute vital funds for program and clinical equipment needs as part of a five-year, $4 million pledge supporting the Pediatric Surgery Center of Distinction. The Center will assure access to the most advanced pediatric surgical services and technologies available, enable the most skilled surgical staff to work on advancing surgical techniques, expand the use of minimally invasive and robotic surgery, and help the hospital meet the needs of pediatric trauma patients. Funds raised by The Women’s Board for the Center will be matched at 150 percent, making the overall donation a whopping $10 million.
In addition, The Women’s Board donates to other hospital needs, such as cutting-edge “giraffe” beds for newborns and the Voyager Airsled, a transport system for children that will adapt to both air and land mobile emergency vehicles.
