Florida Hospitals Ranked Last Says Florida Health Insurance Web Survey

Florida is known for having one of the most advanced medical facilities in the nation. The finest doctor's from across the country come to Florida to work in the Florida sunshine. All that 'Florida Tourism' stuff sounds great; until you match it up with real life, and real statistics; like the Healthcare Providers Survey (health insurance statistic) that ranks Florida hospitals failing in all 10 categories.

Florida (PRWEB) April 1, 2008 -- Florida hospitals are rated in regards to cleanliness, noise, pain control and how well nurses and doctors communicate with their patients. While overall health care in Florida is in some ways the best in the nation, a recent survey conducted by the AARP shows "overcrowding and future budget cuts in hospital funding by the Florida Legislature can make it especially challenging to advance quality care in the state," said Morgan Moran, a Florida Health Insurance consultant.

Moran said the latest information from AARP and other health groups say "Florida hospitals have received rating that were 5 to 8 percentage points lower than the national average. This wasn't in just one category but all 10 categories," Moran said.

One of the questions asked in the Healthcare Providers Survey was, 'Would you recommend this hospital to family or friends'. "Surprisingly, there were mixed answers depending on whether or not the person surveyed had health insurance." "61% of those with health insurance policies report favorable, to great experiences, while 83% of those without health insurance report average, to poor care."

The less than encouraging scores were released are part of a precision initiative being hard pressed by the Department of Health and Human Services. For more details on the survey on Florida hospitals, and other medical statistics in Florida you can go to the Government's website www.HospitalCompare.hhs.gov

Survey Details:
"The Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems Hospital Survey, is the first national publicly reported poll of patients' views of their hospital stay," according to Florida health insurance consultant Moran, "roughly 130 hospitals participated in the survey [more than 50 did not, including some of Florida's principal public and non-profit hospital systems."

"Not all hospitals agreed to allow the government to make public their scores some were quite terrible," said Moran. "The HHS will not allow such an opportunity in future patient satisfaction surveys; all data will be released next time, which is good for Florida."
