French President Nicholas Sarkozy has made it a national priority to make France the leading business destination in Europe. Ambassador Appia will be in Chicago on Wednesday, December 9 to meet with local business leaders. Also, he will be speaking at the law firm of Baker & McKenzie on Thursday, December 10. This will be Appia’s first visit as Ambassador to Chicago and Detroit. There are many Chicago-based companies that have operations in France, including Abbott Laboratories, McDonald’s Hyatt, Kraft, Sara Lee and Motorola to name a few.
