Wellington, FL (PRWEB) March 07, 2013
Representatives from United States Tennis Association-Florida came to Wycliffe Golf & Country Club February 8th, 2013 to demonstrate the new game of tennis called “Masters Tennis”. Wycliffe was selected as one of the few country clubs at which to introduce this new game.
The game offers a less strenuous and innovative approach to tennis for both new and returning players who are 55 and over. Modifications include several different court sizes and tennis balls with a softer bounce.
Approximately 30 Wycliffe members participated in the demonstration learning the new approach. Testifying members who have had injuries found it much easier to play, while other members found this new tennis game to be fun and exciting.
“The number of participants who are playing tennis is growing rapidly. Those over 55 are looking to continue an active, healthy lifestyle and this new format of tennis will keep them playing for years to come,” says Wycliffe Tennis Director, Kam Kuchta, USPTA/USTA, 2012 National Clay Court Champion.
Many said it is another great way to make new friends, which is already pretty easy at Wycliffe.
This new “Masters” Tennis game was featured at the Delray Beach International Tennis Championships that was held February 22 through March 3, 2013. Members from Wycliffe participated in these demonstration games for thousands of visitors at the Championships.
