The pet news web site, http://www.goodnewsforpets.com, is celebrating National Pet Week, May 3-9, by celebrating responsible pet ownership. The site is highlighting public service announcements from the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the life of AM/CAN CH Delux Dynamite Extrodinair a.k.a. "Ike," the beloved dog of its first editor, Julie Lux, and providing new content from Steve Dale, longtime goodnewsforpets columnist and spokesperson for the CATalyst 2009 Top 10 Cat-Friendly Cities.

"We launched goodnewsforpets.com in 2000 and it continues to evolve, especially within the new social media context. We now have eight years of searchable content celebrating pets and are excited about the changes in the coming months," said owner and publisher Lea-Ann Germinder, APR, Fellow PRSA.

National Pet Week, http://www.petweek.org, run by the AVMA Auxiliary, educates adults and children about responsible pet ownership. The AVMA and its more than 78,000 member veterinarians are engaged in a variety of activities dedicated to advancing the science and art of animal, human and public health.

One very responsible pet owner is Julie Lux, the first editor of goodnewsforpets.com. Goodnewsforpets.com celebrates and mourns the loss of her AM/CAN CH Deluxe Dynamite Extrordinair "Ike" who passed on just last week. Ike, an American and Canadian show champion Dalmatian, lived for fifteen and a half years. Lux remarks, "Ike loved everyone and was always happy to stop and visit with people of all ages."

Steve Dale, the first columnist on goodnewsforpets.com, national radio host and pet personality, has advocated responsible pet ownership for over 15 years (http://www.stevedalepetworld.com/). He is now a board member and spokesperson for The CATalyst Council, http://www.catalystcouncil.org, an organization created to raise the stature of the cat. Steve talks about the amazing attributes of cats and celebrates his own cat, in the video posted to goodnewsforpets.com. You can also read Steve's latest syndicated columns about what dog paws smell like and his view on President Obama's family adoption of Bo at goodnewsforpets.com.
