Chicago, IL (PRWEB) November 01, 2012

Carolyn Clancy, M.D., director of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), spoke exclusively with H&HN Daily on quality, care coordination and patient engagement. In the interview, Dr. Clancy explores the increasing importance of care coordination as a determinant of health care outcomes. Yet, her notions of care coordination are not limited to traditional health care outlets. As she explains, “Patients don’t need to come into health care and navigate our byzantine byways to get the information they need. We ought to make sure the information is where people are, whether that’s in the gym or watching TV or in the supermarket.”

While Dr. Clancy says “the magnitude of improvement is not terribly impressive yet,” she believes “we’re on the verge of accelerating our efforts.”

Dr. Clancy also discusses promising results for AHRQ’s CUSP project, with the American Hospital Association’s Health Research and Educational Trust, which focuses on eliminating central line bloodstream infections.

The complete video will be available on H&HN Daily on November 5.
