The CMS E-Prescribing Conference and HIMSS Technology Solutions Showcase will focus on the new incentives payable under the Medicare program starting January 1, 2009 and other means to accelerate the adoption of e-prescribing. E-prescribing enables licensed practitioners to transmit prescriptions via the Internet, instead of writing them on paper. Beginning in 2009 and until 2013, Medicare will provide incentive payments to eligible providers who e-prescribe.
