HLB, Inc. and Key Baby Introduce Revolutionary New, Non-BPA Baby Bottle

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) June 23, 2009 -- HLB, Inc., the Chicago- and Boston-based product design firm that creates Meaningful Design™ and Key Baby™, LLC located in Lutz, Florida, created Weil Baby™, a revolutionary new non-BPA baby bottle as part of the Weil Baby™ feeding system. Key Baby™, in partnership with Dr. Andrew Weil, will launch the Weil Baby™ line of products at the end of July, 2009 in select Babies "R" Us, www.BabiesRus.com and at www.weilbaby.com.
Marlene Sirota, president and co-founder of Key Baby™ and Weil Baby™, a Lake Forest, IL, Cuban American mother of six, said, "I wanted to develop a BPA free baby bottle after surviving cancer and becoming concerned with cancer-causing chemicals in food and food dispenser products. Key Baby™ engaged HLB, Inc., to develop a new and differentiated baby bottle that would meet the needs of new moms."
Marlene Sirota added that Key Baby™ began working with Dr. Weil to formulate the creation of a BPA-free baby bottle in response to concerns about BPA levels found in infant care products. HLB, Inc. was engaged to develop the new bottle. Eastman Tritan™, a new-generation copolyester created by Eastman Chemical Company, was the material selected for the new product line because it offers properties that provide infant-care products with superior clarity, dishwasher durability and toughness.
In addition, using Eastman Tritan™ appealed to Key Baby™ because the material is manufactured without the chemical bisphenol-A (BPA). BPA is a material that mimics estrogen and is commonly used to make hard polycarbonate plastic.
"HLB also designed a venting system for the new bottle," explained Natan Pheil, lead engineer on the project, "and engineered the Air Wave™, which functions very simply and effectively."
Steven Schmidt, CEO and co-founder of Key Baby™ and Weil Baby™, LLC, stated, "The Air Wave™ system allows air to flow between the threads of the ring and neck and into the waves located at the top of the bottle neck.. The Air Wave™ design means no additional parts to clean, drop on the floor or lose. The bottle's accessories and system parts are interchangeable and tough enough for the babies to bounce and play with. It is also safe to wash in a dishwasher. The bottle is clear plastic, while the handle and sippy cup come in an assortment of colors."
