Halifax Nova Scotia March Break is right around the corner with folks pondering how to spend a Halifax Staycation. Youth living in the Halifax region are invited to enter their short films into the Destination Halifax March Break Movie Contest for their chance to win a Staycation prize package and have their film screened at the Viewfinders International Film Festival for Youth.
HRM youth can enter online through the Movie Contest tab on Destination Halifax’s Facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/destinationhalifax. Film entries will be featured on the Movie Contest Facebook tab and finalists will be showcased on Destination Halifax’s Youtube channel, http://www.youtube.com/destinationhalifax.
Films must be one minute or less and all genres of film are welcome. Halifax NS region filmmakers must be under 18 years of age as of submission deadline, Monday, March 19, and must express in their film what makes a March Break staycation in Halifax fun and memorable to them – the more creative and imaginative, the better. Full submission details are available on the Movie Contest Facebook tab.
The winner of the Destination Halifax March Break Movie Contest will receive a prize package that features four tickets to the Youth Filmmaking Day on Saturday, April 21, at Empire Theatres Dartmouth Crossing, where their film will be shown on the big screen, along with a night on the town for the winner and their family. The evening portion of the Halifax vacation will include one night family accommodation at Radisson Suites Hotel in downtown Halifax with continental breakfast, a $100 meal voucher to Murphy’s Cable Wharf Restaurant, round trip limo service with A World Class Limo from the Radisson to Empire Theatres, and a gift basket from Sweet Jane’s.
