Former Assistant United States Attorney Arnold Spencer has joined Haynes and Boone, LLP as a Dallas partner in the firm’s white collar criminal defense practice group.

Mr. Spencer returns to private practice after more than ten years at the United States Attorney’s Office. Most recently, Mr. Spencer served as First Assistant U.S. Attorney and Chief of the Criminal Division prosecuting cases involving securities and financial fraud, money laundering, environmental crimes, public corruption, healthcare fraud and immigration fraud.

“Arnold has personally tried more than 20 jury trials involving securities and financial fraud and has overseen about 1,000 other convictions annually in his role at the U.S. Attorney’s Office,” said Ron Breaux, partner and head of the firm’s white collar criminal defense practice. “His experience will be invaluable to our clients. Mr. Spencer has held multiple positions during his Eastern District tenure, including asset forfeiture chief, deputy criminal chief, criminal chief and first assistant United States attorney. He chaired the Northeast Texas Securities Fraud Task Force and is a former Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Prosecutor of the Year for the SEC's Southwest Region. Mr. Spencer is a frequent speaker at national training seminars for experienced assistant U.S. attorneys and federal law enforcement agents.
