Doctor-led Health Care Organization Welcomes Pharmaceutical Companies

IADMD.org believes there’s opportunity for pharmaceutical companies to join their broad base of doctors to fight for preferred treatment of choice.

East Hampstead, NH (Vocus/PRWEB ) October 15, 2007 -- A doctor-led health care association today reached out to pharmaceutical companies for their backing in the fight to get patients the prescription drugs they need even when higher co-pays deter them from their doctors’ preferred treatments.

Insurance companies cover prescription drugs based on their classification, amount of time in development and cost. Patients generally substitute doctors’ preferred drug of choice with less expensive drugs that are not as effective because patients can’t afford the added out-of-pocket costs.

Pharmaceutical companies are in the same boat as doctors when it comes to fighting insurance companies
“Today’s system has insurers dictating treatment of choice and insurance companies are not clinicians,” says Dr. John J. Ryan, DMD, the founder and CEO of IADMD.org. “Captivating people with a less-effective alternate drug that carries significantly lower co-pay is never in the best interest of patients.”

The Int’l Assoc. of Dental and Medical Disciplines (IADMD), which just last week unveiled its own comprehensive health care reform plan that puts control of medicine back into the hands of licensed doctors, is now extending an invitation to the pharmaceutical community to join IADMD in its efforts that revolutionizes health care.

“Pharmaceutical companies are in the same boat as doctors when it comes to fighting insurance companies,” says Dr. Ryan. “Insurers cut doctors and new drugs out of the equation — that can otherwise eradicate disease, and prevent chronic illness and even loss of life.”

Regulators and lawmakers tend to scrutinize interactions between the drug industry and doctors. Their concern is that pharmaceutical companies may offer financial incentives to doctors to drive drug sales. But Ryan says he doesn’t see this as a problem. And believes this might be an opportunity for the pharmaceutical community to forge an alliance with their broad base of physicians and dentists.

IADMD is connecting doctors from the various disciplines through specially linked doctor Web sites. Each offers a portal for doctors to securely consult with each other. It also connects doctors with their patients. The Web sites enable patients to make doctor’s appointments and order prescription refills online. The doctor Web sites come FREE with each membership to the organization.
