Rick Hendrix, 39, said: "It's pretty scary, but exciting, and I'm looking forward to it. I find it very rewarding to share these parts of my life that are scars, and no longer open wounds."

He added: "Having always vowed never to write my autobiography, I am very fortunate to have the talent and abilities of Evie Hawkins to help me make this journey into a new place."

Hawkins said the book would be "more honest" than most Christian memoirs.

"Hendrix has promised that he is going to be very frank about his entire life," said a spokeswoman.
