Hilton Head Island, SC (PRWEB) August 31, 2010
Randy Smith and Bill True of Lancaster Resort Sales are happy to announce HILTON HEAD’S NEW DOWNTOWN is finally on the island’s immediate time horizon. Design, funding and plan approval for the new Arrow Dunnigan Roundabout is complete and, according to Town of Hilton Head officials, work on this project is set to commence by the end of this year. Just this past week demolition of the Hilton Head Playhouse took place, setting in motion the wheels of progress for the initial phase of the project.
One architectural focal point on the roundabout is the Lancaster Real Estate Sales building at 1032 William Hilton Parkway. Businesses and even landmarks that graced the four corners of Arrow Road and Dunnigan’s Alley have come and gone over the past fifty or so years, but the building with the contemporary roofline, reminiscent of Hilton Head’s 1950s novel and much replicated architectural designs, still stands alongside the big oak, testament to resilience and stability. Visible to all who approach the Sea Pines Circle via 278, it is now positioned to be in the hub of Hilton Head's new downtown.
According to Town officials, traffic flow enhancements , easing congestion from the 278 corridor, augmenting secondary road access, safety improvements (including the removal of onstreet bikeways and creating a separate path on the west side of Arrow Road), and aesthetic revitalizations will be the major components in this much-needed community upgrade.
