Hilton Head Island, South Carolina (PRWEB) April 30, 2013
May is one of the most festive months of the year in Hilton Head Island. Series of local events are taking place in different communities; some usually lasts for couple of days while the others are month-long events, like the Shelter Cove Park Farmers Market, where visitors can buy homegrown and locally produced products like fruits, vegetables, artwork, crafts, home-made soap and candles, cookies, snacks and made-to-order foods. Vendors consider this as an opportunity to introduce their business and expand their market.
On May 5th, guests for the 9th Annual Yacht Hop of Hilton Head Island are invited to step aboard stunning yachts, all privately owned, and be treated to wine and mouth-watering desserts prepared by local chefs. This is an annual fundraiser event for the patient care programs at Hospice Care of Lowcountry.
Another exciting event to look forward to for the month of May is the 17th Annual Rib BurnOff and Barbecue Fest, featuring amateur and professional cooks competing for a total of 20 awards. This year, amateur cooks will go head to head against the professionals; and come rain or shine, Hilton Head’s own Chilly Willy Band will grace the event for the second time since the first Rib BurnOff. Net proceeds for this event will go to local children’s charities. This event will take place on May 18 at the Coastal Discovery Museum.
For those who love live music and outdoor concerts, there’s Music on the Harbour on May 23 at the Shelter Cove Harbour and Gregg Russell Concerts under the Liberty Oak in Harbour Town, Sea Pines resort on the 24th. Other important events to look forward to include Community Bicycle Ride on May 4 to celebrate National Bicycling Month and America Sings, a special tribute to the Armed Forces.
Property rental provider Destination Vacation is now taking reservations for island visitors who want to witness these series of events and celebrations and experience life in Hilton Head Island.
