Intercede and ORC Partner for PIV Programs and Deliver Managed Credentialing Service to US Military Contractors

London, UK (PRWEB) November 17, 2008 -- Intercede (AIM:IGP), the producer of the Intercede MyID® Identity and Credential Management System (IDCMS), announces that Operational Research Consultants, Inc. ("ORC"), a subsidiary of WidePoint Corporation (AMEX: WYY), has signed a Solutions Partnership contract with Intercede. Under this contract ORC will resell and support MyID solutions and services to US Federal, State and commercial customers. A number of ORC customers already use MyID powered services, including the United Space Alliance, Federal Trade Commission, Federal Housing Finance Administration and the Federal Election Commission. The credentials they use are fully compliant with the Federal Information Processing Standards No. 201 ("FIPS 201"), a new U.S. Federal Standard that sets out stringent requirements of Personal Identity Verification ("PIV") for all Federal employees and contractors.
Under a separate agreement, ORC is using Intercede MyID to deliver medium hardware assurance credentials and associated certificates to contractors that service the U.S. Military, worldwide. This service is a key component in a Defense industry-wide identity and cross-credentialing network build on certified products and standards. This network is being built as a private industry initiative to verify and authenticate the identity of civilian personnel seeking to enter U.S. Military installations. The credentials issued under this program are recognized by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) as providing the same level of identity assurance as the Common Access Card (CAC) carried by all U.S. DoD personnel.
As part of an early stage deployment, ORC has already purchased several thousand Intercede MyID licenses for deployment for access to selected U.S. Military bases.
