Inventors and InventHelp Clients Develops Hurricane Protection for Homes (ORD-2243)

Based in Pittsburgh, Pa., InventHelp is submitting the AWNING ARMOUR to companies in the hopes of their good faith review.

"AWNING ARMOUR was conceived as a consequence of my experience in working on my home with respect to hurricane shutters and awnings," said one of two inventors from Melbourne, Fla. "This led me to develop a protective system that is quick and easy to set up while also being affordable."

They developed the patent-pending AWNING ARMOUR for use on windows and other glazed areas of a variety of dimensions. Under normal conditions, it could offer an attractive and effective alternative to traditional canvas and aluminum window coverings, thereby helping keep direct sunlight out of the building. Under hurricane threat, it could be easily lowered and locked in place, thereby providing a measure of protection against high-speed winds and debris. The invention features a maintenance-free, two-for-one design.

The system reduces summer cooling costs by blocking out the sun. In winter, it easily rolls up to expose natural sunlight to increase internal temperatures. In the event of a storm, the unit becomes a no-hassle hurricane panel to keep projectiles from flying through what would have been an open area to prevent loss of the roof and dwelling.

The inventors went on to say, "The appealing features of AWNING ARMOUR would be its simplicity, ease of installation, attractive appearance, versatility and the protection it could afford. It meets all required codes and will enhance any structure."

The original design was submitted to the Orlando office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
