Seat Belt Monitor Invented by InventHelp Clients (TPA-2298)

InventHelp, a Pittsburgh-based inventor service firm, is submitting the Seat Belt Safety Light to companies for review.

All too often, news reports of automobile-related deaths and injuries reveal that the victims were not wearing seat belts. On the other hand, survivors of car crashes often credit seat belts for saving their lives. With these statistics in mind, two inventors from Clearwater, Fla., set out to encourage more motorists to buckle up for safety.

They developed the patent-pending Seat Belt Safety Light to display the number of occupants in an automobile and indicate if those motorists are wearing seat belts. As such, it helps law enforcement officers implement seat belt laws. At the same time, it reduces the risk of law enforcement officers being shot by an undetected occupant of a motor vehicle. Furthermore, it improves highway safety by preventing death and serious injury to motorists in automobile accidents. It also reduces the number of car insurance claims that result in premium rate increases. In addition, it is convenient, easy to install and use and affordably priced.

The inventors’ concern for automobile safety inspired the idea: “We were concerned about the growing number of motorists who were killed or seriously injured in automobile accidents because they were not wearing seat belts,” one of them said.

The original design was submitted to the Tampa office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
