InventHelp Inventor Develops Redesigned Wheelchair (CBA-2242)

Share Article

Founded in Pittsburgh in 1984, InventHelp is submitting THE CARETAKER to companies for their review and possible feedback.

"My mother uses a wheelchair, and taking her to the doctor can be such a struggle because she needs to be moved from her wheelchair onto the examination table," said an inventor from Elgin, S.C. "I thought that there had to be a better, safer, easier way to go about this."

He developed THE CARETAKER to make it easier for medical personnel to examine an individual who uses a wheelchair. The design ends the need to lift the patient out of the chair in order to move them to an exam table. This reduces physical stress and strain, as it saves staff from having to handle the patient as much in order to perform a medical exam. The unit offers added peace of mind to both the user and medical personnel. Additionally, it is designed to enhance personal safety by reducing the risk of injury.

The original design was submitted to the Columbia office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
