Online business authority James Schramko recently posted an Internet marketing news video on his company website SuperFastBusiness.com. In it, he tackles a range of business topics, providing valuable tips for each one. Before he launched into the discussion of caching, blogging, and pricing, he shared a recent announcement from video hosting provider Wistia about its free program.
“Wistia have just announced free video hosting so if you wanted to try it out, then check it out,” Schramko urges his audience. “I love Wistia for videos because they stream fast; it’s so easy to upload. It encodes and plays in any device, and it embeds everywhere.” He adds, “The best thing of all is the amazing tracking analytics. You can see where people drop off your videos, so that you can actually re-upload the more optimized video. That alone makes it far more valuable than a service like YouTube for my money.”
He then proceeds to talk about caching, stating that powerful blogs using a reseller account from somewhere like Hostgator end up using too much bandwidth or too much resource on the server and are eventually instructed to install caching. “One of the cachers that you may install is called W3 Total Cache,” shares Schramko, warning that users might find it a little confusing to operate with the scripts sometimes being a little buggy and the setup process rather complicated. It can also affect what people see on the site.
“I don’t love caching things,” admits the Web marketing expert. “I certainly like to put all of media on somewhere like Amazon S3 or off-site like Wistia or YouTube, but what you might want to do as an interim measure, and I certainly do this for my most powerful sites, is I just get a dedicated server, then I’m the only one on there.” He advises his viewers to use S3 for external media and to get a decent server.
As for blogging, this is what Schramko has to say: “I would rather make 5 good pieces of content and promote them properly than to make 10 pieces of content and not promote them.” He details some of the measures he takes to promote his posts, such as posting them on his Facebook wall, making a press release, announcing them with bookmark, and submitting their RSS feed to syndications services like Feedage. According to Schramko, one of the most powerful things he does in aid of promotion is to email his customer list, something which he has built up to be a targeted segmented quality list of people who want to hear from him. Those who are interested in learning more about this can visit AuthorityLeverage.com where they can access a simple mind map and some basic training on what the SuperFastBusiness CEO does to leverage his posts.
Schramko also discusses pricing, pointing out a fundamental rule in this matter. “It’s unwise to pay too little, so it is a race to the bottom when you try and be the cheapest in the market,” he asserts, elaborating, “You’re actually commoditizing yourself, and making price the comparison point is a bad idea.” He describes doing this as a recipe for failure. “The only thing you need to consider is you’re solving a problem, therefore the value of what you’re selling has to be higher than the amount you’re asking.” He instructs his viewers to set up the infrastructure or framework to help people understand why the solution offered is more valuable to them than not having it. “The main thing you need to remember with pricing is to be confident, solve problems, and give great solutions.”
Schramko wraps up the news update with an announcement regarding the conversion live training coming up for members of FastWebFormula. “I suggest you subscribe to that free training if you’re inside FastWebFormula. Come along and understand some of the processes involved in identifying where is the good traffic that is coming to your business, how can you get more of that, and how can you stop wasting money on traffic that never converts into anything.” He encourages non-members who are interested in the training to join the growing forum membership. “Now is a great time to join the other 303 members who are posting away sharing great valuable insights and getting tremendous value inside this community.”
