Education Site Names Jay Leno 'Educator of the Year for 2008'
Improve-Education.org declares that Jay Leno -- via his Tonight Show segment called JAYWALKING -- has rendered an invaluable service by raising the public's awareness of how sloppily educated many Americans are, and proving dramatically that schools must do a better job. Jay Leno is therefore named Educator of the Year for 2008.

For the educators who preside over this decline, there's not much excuse. Too many destructive policies have been allowed into the schools. There are actually educators who preach this mantra: THEY CAN LOOK IT UP, as a pretext for not expecting anyone to learn anything! JAYWALKING makes us confront the inevitable result of this approach.
"Predictably," Price says, "our educators try to deflect criticism by mocking the messenger. Jay Leno, they will say, is just a comedian, an entertainer. With this award, I want to insist: no, no, no. JAYWALKING is as profound as it gets."
