For families who want to save on their summer vacation, Jeanette Bunn of Travel To Go offers tips for saving in Disneyland.

Disneyland is one of the best destinations in the world for families who want to have unique experiences together. However, many families, especially large ones, are on a budget when they travel and need to make sure that a thrilling family vacation to a destination like Disneyland is not spoiled or cut short by overspending. Fortunately, with the right planning, any trip can be done on a budget, and Disneyland is no exception. Here, Jeanette Bunn shares some of her favorite tips for saving on a Disneyland vacation.

1.    Eat outside the park: Disney meals can add up fast, especially if a family is eating in the park three times a day. Jeanette Bunn, Travel To Go President, suggests eating outside the park whenever possible, and limiting the amount of money spent on Disney snacks. Leave the park to hit a fast food joint at lunchtime, or go to a nearby restaurant where kids can split meals. If possible, cook some meals in the mornings and evenings, and bring along snacks to the park to tide everyone over. If all else fails, plan a picnic lunch to enjoy in the parking lot between trips to Space Mountain.

2.    Do some DIY: Before heading to Disneyland get crafty to recreate some of the Disney magic without the Disney price. Have kids make their own autograph books with craft supplies from the dollar store. Instead of purchasing Disney costumes for the kiddies in the park, Jeanette Bunn also recommends that travelers help their kids put together their character inspired outfits. Little projects like these can get kids ready for Disneyland while also creating great memories and cutting costs.

3.    Ask for freebies: Souvenirs are often favorite ways to remember a trip but these can be an extra cost. Fortunately there are some opportunities to get free souvenirs while in the park. Visitors can ask for maps on the Jungle Cruise or get a piloting license from the Mark Twain riverboat. Additionally, greeters at the gates will give first time visitors free celebration buttons for birthdays, first visits, and other special occasions.

Any trip can be customized to the needs of the traveler with a little careful planning says Travel To Go. With these tips, even a Disneyland vacation can be done on a budget so any family can have a magical trip together.
