AirWatch LLC helps businesses manage and protect all their mobile devices.
“Wireless is a rapidly growing and rapidly changing industry, and has been for the last few decades. AirWatch is been rapidly growing in the area which helps business customers manage and protect their many wireless devices. Protection is key today and going forward. And that’s where AirWatch is strong,” says Tech analyst Jeff Kagan.
“As smartphones, tablet’s watches and whatever comes next continue to grow, this presents a growing challenge to companies for management and protection. This segment is still young and will likely change over the next few years with regards to leadership, technology and so on,” says Principal analyst Kagan.
AirWatch is a competitor in the mobile device management software market. They compete with Good Technololgy, SAP, Citrix and MobileIron. This is a rapidly growing area, according to Bloomberg. The market is expected to reach $1.6 billion in revenue in 2013, up from $784 million in 2012.
“This is why VMware is so interested in AirWatch. They see this as a quick entry into this rapidly growing space. It looks like VMware wants to and expects to be a leader in this segment as it continues to grow. After an acquisition sometimes growth is strong. Other times it is not. So we’ll keep our eyes on it to see how they grow,” says Kagan.
