Jess Turner releases the video for “Already Bruising,” the first single from her upcoming EP, which will be released this summer. Directed and edited by Jami Ross, who has also shot videos for Christian Gibbs of Lucinda Black Bear, “Already Bruising” features Jess gradually becoming a painting.
Right from the start, “Already Bruising” demonstrates Turner’s natural performance talents and virtuosic musicianship as she plays multiple instruments and sings. Her smooth vocals sail above the piano-heavy track, paralleling artists such as Sara Bareilles and Grace Potter; however, what really sets Turner apart are her songwriting abilities. Her music combines the broad appeal of a pop sensibility with the integrity of great songwriting, incomprehensible among most singer-songwriters her age. “Already Bruising,” though focused mainly around love, employs original and well-written lyrical themes not commonly heard in pop music.
Since the release of her debut album in 2012, Jess has performed live on Katie Couric's Green Room Concert Series, signed with Fieldhouse Records (BMG), and has been the featured IndieTracks artist. Recently, she has been performing all around New York, including shows at The Bitter End, The Gibson Showroom, and Southside.
“Already Bruising” was recorded at Long Road Recordings in Manhattan, and produced by Alex Nackman.
