Dr. James C. Esch Joins KFx Scientific Advisory Board

KFx Medical Corporation adds Dr. James C. Esch to Scientific Advisory Board.

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) September 26, 2006 -- KFx Medical Corporation, a developer of minimally invasive percutaneous repair systems for rotator cuff repair, has added Dr. James C. Esch to its Scientific Advisor Board.

Mr. Tate Scott, President and CEO of KFx Medical said, "What can be said about Dr. Jim Esch that hasn't already been said? He's a past President of the Arthroscopy Association of North America, a member of American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, and an absolute icon in the world of shoulder arthroscopy. His yearly course, most often just called The Esch Meeting is one of the absolute finest in the world. It would be impossible to enumerate the contributions by Dr. Esch to improved patient care and outcomes through his direct practice, teaching, or his foundation of the San Diego Shoulder Institute. He joins the highest quality SAB I’ve ever seen.” The KFx scientific board includes Drs. Christopher Behr, Eric Carson, Gregory Fanelli, Matt France, Brad Giannotti, Peter Millett, Richard Ryu, Joe Tauro, Jon ‘JP’ Warner, and Russell Warren.

Dr. Esch said of joining the KFx SAB, “I was attracted to KFX because they offer an easy and unique way to create a double row cuff repair and enhance the footprint contact. This contact may enhance rotator cuff healing.”

Dr. Esch completed his education Notre Dame, and Northwestern University. His internship and residency were conducted at Cook County Hospital and Northwestern University respectfully. Later he served as an Orthopedic Surgeon in the United States Navy in Danang, Viet Nam. His affiliations include American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, Arthroscopy Association of North American (Past President), and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (Program Committee, Shoulder and Elbow Section). He is the author of many books and publications. As chairman for 23 years of the internationally attended San Diego Shoulder Arthroscopy Course he has been directly responsible for the education of thousands of orthopedic surgeons in shoulder repair.

Over four million people seek medical advice for shoulder pain every year; torn rotator cuffs alone account for more than 500,000 surgeries annually and have traditionally required many weeks of rehabilitation. Traditional minimally invasive techniques, although promising -- patients typically experience less pain and regain full range of motion more quickly -- require surgeons to have advanced videoscopic skills. In contrast, KFx provides simple systems for surgeons while ensuring more anatomical repair for the patient, yielding better clinical outcomes.
