Nemours, one of the nation's premier pediatric health systems, today announces the appointment of Brent R. King, MD to the positions of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and Physician-in-Chief at Nemours Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children (NAIDHC) in Wilmington, Delaware. He will also serve as a Vice President for the health system, joining Nemours on June 1.
As CMO and Physician-in-Chief, Dr. King will lead the health and wellness strategy for NAIDHC and serve as the principal architect of the clinical, academic, research and business alignment strategies for one of the nation’s leading pediatric institutions.
Dr. King is a nationally recognized physician with a distinguished list of accomplishments including a background in research, emergency medicine, teaching, patient safety and quality improvement. He joins the organization from his most recent position as Executive Vice Dean for Clinical Affairs, The University of Texas Medical School at Houston. He is also the Chairman, Department of Emergency Medicine and Chairman ad interim, Department of Pediatrics for the school.

A graduate of Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, and the University of Texas Medical School, Houston, Texas, Dr. King completed his pediatric residency at The University of Texas Affiliated Hospitals, Houston, Texas and a pediatric emergency medicine fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Additionally, Dr. King has a significant background in medical quality and medical management. He holds a Master of Medical Management (MMM) degree from Carnegie Mellon University. He has served in leadership positions for several national and regional organizations including the Medical College of Pennsylvania and Hahnemann University, and the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
