“This book is a veritable treasure trove of words to enhance, supplement, and inspire musical creativity,” states Music Executive James Shipstone in the book’s Foreword.

Author Kay Bell claims that musicians, producers and singers can create exquisite melodies that, without lyrics, can often remain one dimensional and undiscovered, offering no relatable narrative. She hopes the missing element might well lie within the pages of her new book, “Lyrically Speaking: Seasons of My Life” (published by Balboa Press AU), presenting readers with a groundbreaking concept – a collection of original lyrical works for 180 potential songs, yet to be set to music.

Written by international award-winning Australian lyricist, Bell, lyrics within this collection are categorized into seasons reflecting the tone and overall message of each potential song, such as spring lyrics representing seeds of possibility, and autumn or fall lyrics expressing the contradiction between life and loss. Bell’s lyrics touch on topics including life, love, birth, death, renewal, fear, war and celebration. Suggested genres include acoustic, ballad, Christian, country, jazz, pop, rock, R&B, soul, film and TV.

“This book is a veritable treasure trove of words to enhance, supplement, and inspire musical creativity,” states Music Executive James Shipstone in the book’s Foreword.

An excerpt from the lyrics of “Blessed,” featured in “Lyrically Speaking”:

“First he sent someone to hold;
Transparent wings and a heart of gold.
It was his plan, my God’s intent.
I know without a doubt, she’s been heaven sent; now—”
