Sevierville, TN (Vocus/PRWEB) October 12, 2010

July 2010 marked the lowest ever housing sales on record for the month of July and the lowest for existing home sales in fifteen years, according to the latest government figures.

Who do you point the finger at? Ken Loomis, of Ken Loomis Construction, responds, "I don’t have enough fingers. But I don’t think it’s that easy. Some say the bubble burst, some say sub-prime lending, some say unqualified buyers, some say bad policies with the banking industry are to blame. I think all of these factors, along with many others, played a role."

Due to this fall-out, many construction companies, some who have been in business for over 25 years, are going out of business every day. Home construction contractors, trade subcontractors and commercial construction contractors are all feeling the pinch as the U.S. housing market continues to struggle.

With this in mind, Ken and the local Home Builders Association board in Sevier County, Tennessee (SCHBA), are on a mission to help fellow construction industry members get through these tough times. With optimism, Ken, along with other board members of the SCHBA, look for answers.

In response, Ken Loomis Construction has diversified into other areas of construction, along with their custom new home construction expertise. New operations include remodeling, additions, repairs, insurance claims and small commercial jobs. The company encourages other builders to diversify and do the same.

In addition, Ken Loomis Construction’s Becky Moore is currently coordinating the Smoky Mountain Home Show for the SCHBA. Along with her duties at Ken Loomis Construction, she is working hard to coordinate the best home show in Sevier County history. This year, she focuses on major vendors who showcase the latest technologies and trades that can modernize the existing home.

"I am so excited about this event and so pleased to be able to help bring it to Sevier County," Becky explains. "There will be something for everyone. We are even including the children with a kid’s work shop."

Ken added, "We have faith in the building industry and wish luck to all businessmen in the trade."
