Newly self published author Kevin Roache has now made available his latest offering to an eager public. Kevin fervently believes self-publishing is the only way forward and only option left to the creative person.
Ancient Times is a refreshingly new historical comedy novel. The first five chapters of this 48 chapter novel are free. Visit http://www.ancienttimestext.com to get a taste of a ‘page turner’ that you will want to own after you have sampled it. This unique event may even start a trend – who knows.
Ancient Times has been described as an ancient situation comedy but without the annoying theme tune. Was ‘back then’ so unlike life is now? Once the reader gets past Hollywood’s ignorance and The British Museum’s lies it all becomes so obvious. The ability to free the mind from all the old clichés and stereotypes releases an intuitive deep rooted fear and allows the acceptance of a myriad of possibilities.
Carefully chosen by Pharaoh, a skillful village of artisans are given the task of bringing life to the last resting place of the man/god. Set in ancient Egypt circa 2500BC the novel highlights the humorous and poignant differences between an ancient society and their customs and a contemporary society. Love, sex, death, corruption, hedonistic lifestyles, debauchery, manic depression, extreme violence – but making sure no animals are harmed in the process – self-abuse, dogging and darts are features of everyday ancient life. It appears there are surprisingly few differences between then and now.
Looking a little closer, the plot predominantly revolves around the head of the village, his family and best friend. For various reasons each character tends to have a severe problem with authority and following orders. To varying degrees this naturally provides a great deal of rich comic potential. The relationships between various family members range from a little too familiar to downright hostile. You will recognise the characters in this novel. You work with them, you’re related to them. They are your best friends.
Without wanting to hype this too much you must read the five free chapters. It really is laugh out loud funny. The author finds it too embarrassing to mention comparisons between Ancient Times and other works of comedic note. Visit http://www.ancienttimestext.com - and take a look now. At the site you will also find a link to Amazon where you can secure your very own copy.
Ancient Times is written by Kevin Roache an ex-teacher and IT person who feels he is getting old far too quickly. He also laughingly calls himself an amateur musician. He is not really a head-scratching philosophical type but he does get a bit deep when forced to wax lyrical after regular chastisements for wearing brown shoes with black trousers and things of that nature. Other hobbies include eating and sleeping.
