The same content presented by the instructor in the onsite training is now available online for the trainees to review and expand upon as they move through their own LabVIEW development.

Sixclear (http://www.sixclear.com), an Austin based startup, provides the only onsite/online combination LabVIEW training package available, and is now offering a discounted price on The LabVIEW Fundamentals One-Two Punch bundle.
“A common complaint for any onsite training course is that the instructor arrives and spends a week pouring information in students’ heads only to leave when they finally start coding their own projects” says Brian Spears, former National Instruments engineer and Sixclear founder. “The best you can hope for is to immediately start LabVIEW coding so as to not lose understanding.” Spears describes this scenario as unrealistic, saying that most trainees just took a week off to train, and are likely playing catch-up with work responsibilities after returning. Additionally, from a management perspective, moving 6-12 trainees right from training directly into waiting LabVIEW projects proves to be extremely difficult.
“We find that many trainees won’t actually start significant coding until weeks or months down the line, at which point they’ve forgotten much of what they’ve learned. Even those lucky students who are able to move right into LabVIEW coding seldom recall all that was taught in a week’s worth of training. This is where the online training is so valuable. The same content presented by the instructor in the onsite training is now available online for the trainees to review and expand upon as they move through their own LabVIEW development.”
Spears reports that feedback has been outstanding and describes a typical example: “I spoke to a customer that I trained several months ago onsite and who is only now getting to the point in his own code to need to use LabVIEW control references. He just jumped online and viewed the video on that topic, watching me describe the concept just as he saw it originally presented. He even pulled up the course solution code and used it as a template for his own project.”
Regarding pricing, Spears explains: “Our customers made us realize the value of this onsite/online bundle, and we’re the only company to offer it. So we have designed the pricing to make the decision easy.” The online course is normally priced at $899 per user, but when packaged together in the One-Two Punch bundle it is offered as a $199 add-on to the normal onsite cost.
Spears adds that Sixclear’s holiday sales promotion is still valid through the end of 2010, meaning that all LabVIEW Fundamentals Online licenses – even when bundled with the onsite delivery - will automatically have their online access extended to a full year instead of the standard 6 month access period.
When asked whether he would still recommend the online package alone Spears replied: “Oh definitely, any person who simply can’t take a week off work, wants the industry-low price tag of $899, or just wants the convenience of self-paced learning from anywhere in the world is still best served by our most popular offering: Sixclear LabVIEW Fundamentals Online”.
