Web Marketing Expert Larry Chase Offers 10 Tips to Drive Traffic Using a Press Release

Publisher and Executive Editor of Web Digest For Marketers, Larry Chase offers top 10 tips for making news that drives traffic to websites.

New York, NY (PRWEB) October 3, 2006 -- The thirteen-year Internet Marketing veteran Larry Chase offers his top 10 tips for creating relevant press releases that drive traffic to your website. These tips originally appeared in his Web Digest For Marketers, the insider email newsletter for savvy online marketers. Each issue of his newsletter addresses a single aspect of Internet Marketing, including SEO (Search Engine Optimization), Web Metrics and Analytics, PPC (Pay-Per-Click) Tools and Tactics, Advanced Email Marketing, Increasing Response Rates Online, et al. Chase has been on both sides of PR. He receives countless pitches from companies that are hoping to be featured in his influential newsletter. On the other side of the coin, for over a decade he has been very successful at driving traffic to his website with media exposure.

“I've gotten press in scores of media outlets, including Business Week, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, DM News, Bloomberg News, CNBC, ABC, CBS, and then some,” says Larry Chase. “Each time I was covered, my site stats rocketed and subscriptions to my newsletter shot up manyfold for that week.”

One of this year’s most popular issues of Web Digest For Marketers was titled “How to Attract Traffic to Your Site Using Press Releases.” In it, Chase offers his top 10 tips for creating relevant news. Here are the first three tips from this list:

1. Think Content: If your firm gathers statistics in the course of its operations, that may be interesting to your target audience. Well thought-out position statements that run counter to business as usual are another avenue to explore in the content arena.

2. Visualize Your Audience: Don't write for a "demographic." Too many press releases seem to be writing for some vague audience. Personify the reader(s). Imagine them reading your press release or a lift from it that a reporter might use. If you can't visualize this, start over.

3. Optimize Your Press Release for SEO: Everyday, more people get their news from Google News or Yahoo News and the like. When writing your press release, think about the keywords your target audience uses to make up that filter. Don't overuse those keyword phrases, but don't ignore them either.
