Verbalplanet.com, one of the web's leading sites for learning a language online, is celebrating the launch of a new feature which will allow users to try out the award winning online language training service for free through a new trial lesson scheme, as well as strengthening their existing relationship with Collins Language.

Verbalplanet.com, which launched in 2006, has facilitated thousands of online language lessons between students and language tutors across the globe and as far apart as the USA and Auckland New Zealand using Skype, the internet telephony service.

Language learners no longer need jump in their car to attend a language class at the local college or struggle at home with books and CD's but instead can learn a language online in partnership with one of hundreds of language tutors listed on the Verbalplanet site. The new trial lesson scheme entitles everyone who registers on the site to a free online language lesson, with a tutor of their choice, designed to evaluate their ability and allow their chosen tutor to develop an individual learning plan specific to their needs.

“Since the site’s initial launch in 2006 we’ve come a long way and helped to develop the market for online education and language learning,” commented Andrew Moore, founder of Verbalplanet.com.

“The new trial lesson scheme is a great way for people to see how online language lessons can help bring learning a language to life and the importance of live interaction and conversation as a key part of learning any foreign language,” adds Moore. “The feedback we’ve received from users demonstrates that If you’re serious about learning a new language, for business or pleasure, there really is no substitute for live conversation, and learning online is the perfect way to make that happen.”

Free trial language lessons aren't the only thing that's new with Verbalplanet.com in 2010. The language learning website has been developing a close partnership with Collins Language, a division of Harper Collins publishing.

The site has expanded its range of available products and now offers electronic downloads and online subscriptions to a range of Collins language learning solutions in all of the world's major languages including; Spanish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Russian and many more.

The current range of products includes 40 minute audio language lessons, structured language courses for a variety of ability levels, electronic phrasebooks and dictionaries. Many of the products are available as iPod downloads and are compatible with all MP3 players making them a handy solution for busy people on the go.

"The partnership we have with Collins Language really strengthens our place as a leading provider of online language learning solutions" says Moore. "All of the Collins products are a great complementary solution to online language lessons through the Verbalplanet.com site and are designed specifically for the mobile devices of today."
