Author Lee Catubay Paul addresses disparity among persons of the African Diaspora and offers solutions from both biblical and secular sources – from ancient times to current day – in his new book, “Dichotomy of the Black Diaspora: Lee Catubay Paul” (published by Archway Publishing).

“There is a lack of unity among the Black Diaspora,” Paul says. “Problems since post-slavery are difficult to address, because of the lack of unity.”

Paul explores the historical, religious, political and educational elements that contribute to the personal and communal realities of the African Diaspora. Covering a broad sweep of history and geography, Paul depicts a long-standing dichotomy and his solution.

Paul explains that, when it comes to religion, some members of the African Diaspora choose to attend to their spiritual roots, embracing the gods of their ancestors, while others prefer Christianity or other religious persuasions. He also delves into the fact that there are those who choose to focus on temporal matters, embracing Black Nationalism.

Through his book, Paul provides readers with solutions he says will help the black community achieve symmetrical balance – to prevent blacks from exploiting each other, succumbing to gang warfare and African tribal warfare, and instead encouraging them to bind together, firm in the harmonious relationships necessary for the continuation of their heritage.
