In her new book “Close Encounters on a Golf Course” (published by AuthorHouse) author and economist Lena Hagman reveals a side of herself few have ever seen – her love of golf – and shares that side with readers.
“It´s about the utter joy we all can sense whenever we meet someone who can share the splendor of being who we are,” Hagman says, “in an activity that brings every aspect of our personalities out in the open, as during a round of golf.”
An excerpt from “Close Encounters on a Golf Course”:
“In my view, the golf game is not just about hitting balls and trying to hit as few shots as possible around 18 holes. In order to succeed, and in order to enjoy the game, it’s also about the way you think, the way you are and the way you treat your fellow players.”
Like so much else in life, Hagman maintains, golf is more than a game. “The stories in the book are not usually told,” she says, “since they reveal how we all can feel and think to ourselves while meeting other persons we don’t know from before. At least in Sweden, it’s not common to play golf with strangers, nor being open about ourselves to strangers. Therefore, it’s very hard to find new connections in life.”
