Phoenix, AZ. (PRWEB) September 11, 2012
Lerner and Rowe Gives Back, a nonprofit charitable foundation of the law offices of Lerner and Rowe, P.C., are proud sponsors of the Fourth Annual UMOM Walk for Homeless Families. The walk / run will be held Saturday, September 29, 2012 at the Phoenix Zoo. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. with the 1K and 5K walk / run events beginning at 7:30 a.m. All proceeds from the event benefit UMOM New Day Centers, the largest homeless shelter for families in Arizona.
The Arizona Department of Economic Security reported that one in every 264 persons in Maricopa County experienced homelessness in SFY 2011. 42.5 percent of the homeless population stated that it was their first time being homeless.
“It’s unfortunate that some families, single adults and teens find themselves without shelter, food and proper medical care at one point in their lives. Organizations such as UMOM New Day Centers provide assistance to those in need so that they can take a breath, regroup and have a chance to get back on track,” said Kevin Rowe, Esq., founder of the Lerner and Rowe Gives Back foundation. “We are proud to support UMOM and their efforts to help people rebuild their lives and succeed.”
Walk participants can also enjoy free all-day admission to the Phoenix Zoo after the event. More details about the UMOM Walk for Homeless Families may be found online at umom.kintera.org/walk2012.
